My story
I am Marco Antonio de Carvalho, a director and screenwriter born in Rio de Janeiro. From an early age, my curiosity about storytelling led me to cinema. I graduated in Film from Universidade Estácio de Sá and worked professionally as an actor after training at CAL. This experience as a performer deeply influenced my perspective as a director — one attentive to human gestures, silences, and the subtexts that build a scene.
My career began behind the scenes as a producer on the series Intervenção (A&E), and I soon transitioned to directing, debuting with the institutional video Obras MAR for the Fundação Roberto Marinho. Since then, I have built myself as a professional who values both technical excellence and emotional connection with the audience. I have directed feature films such as Mallandro – O Errado Que Deu Certo, winner of awards at national festivals; Tudo Por Um Pop Star 2 for Disney; and Fazendo Meu Filme for Prime Video. I have also written scripts for film and advertising, including the feature O Que Aprendi Com Você for Netflix.
I am drawn to projects that explore universal emotions with aesthetics, humor, and personality. Across series, TV shows, music videos, documentaries, and commercials, I have developed the ability to adapt to different languages and audiences — without losing the thread that stitches together all my work: a human, narrative, and restless gaze.
Today, I continue directing and writing with the same enthusiasm as when I started — but now with more tools, more partnerships, and a repertoire that drives me to tell stories that matter.
